Or like others have suggested, just do a deliberate endless loop like
100 GOTO 100.

I tend to incline to the somewhat more elegant (IMHO): EXEC 44539

This can be preceeded by two beeps to alert of the cursor-less pause:

190 ... ready to freeze
200 SOUND 180,2:SOUND 240,1:EXEC 44539
210 ... program goes on...

So many ways to solve the problem :-)
