Yes, the NitrOS-9 ROM Kit replaces the BASIC ROM with a NitrOS-9 boot  
rom.

A good understanding of the 6809 and the CoCo 3 boot-up state will  
help in developing a replacement ROM.  I relied heavily on the  
Unravelled Series as well as JV's emulator to debug my ROM code.
