And the tools are free from Atmel - it even has an (albeit slow) emulator 
builtin, so you can test your code without having to program an MPU to do it.

Found it very handy for debugging my (admittedly crappy -- I'm still 
learning!) code... ;-)

Once I get my first couple very basic projects out of the way, I want to 
make a Tandy Model 10x/200 laptop floppy drive "flashdisk" with the DOS 
"built-in" the AVR. Maybe .5 to 1Meg of Flash, either switch or software 
selectible, and smaller than a deck of cards. ;-) ... but this is straying 
offtopic. ;-)

Anywho, gotta roll... my 13-hour-workday is finally over!
