That kind of leads me to believe th at Radio Shack had enough 
trouble with the first run of the chip that they cahnged vendoes and 
did fixes on the original model.  They were in a ship crisis and 
shipped marginal parts just to get product to the store. Then correct 
the problem in warranty. If the c ustomer complained then fix if 
under warranty or otherwise hold their collective breaths.
