I started this a little while ago by saying that I was 59 years old, but
didn't continue on. So let me continue on.
I bought my first computer, the MC-10, right after they first came out. I
remember going down to radio shack and purchasing it for approximately
$50. Later I added the CCR-81. I was in the Air Force, but I don't
remember where I was stationed. My job was to repair Navigation Equipment
Systems on various types of aircraft. I played with it for a while and
then put it up for many years. I retired from the Air Force in 1987 and
then went to A & P school (Airframe and Powerplant) and I purchased a
Tandy 1000TX to help me do the paperwork required to complete the school.
The Tandy had (2) 720 floppies. Later I added a HD. Thru the years I have
upgraded and the latest computer I have is a "lightening" speed
700 MHz HP computer.
I love DOS, and have wanted to teach myself programming. I think it would
be a fun hobby. But I don't think it would be fun to do it for a living.
So I thought the best place to start would be the MC-10. But with small
keys, I thought I would begin with one of the coco's. I purchased a coco
2 just so i would have a coco before they go off the market. Eventually I
want to set up a Coco 3 system. I've just started a job repairing
helicopters for the Army and when Nan (my wife) and I can afford it, I
will begin setting that system up.
