Maybe "256-color mode" doesn't completely tell the story by itself as to 
whether we would get 256 colors at once from X colors, or 16 colors at once 
from a total of 256 possible.

Since the CoCo 3's palette entry format is really XXRGBRGB then YYRGBRGB 
makes sense, giving a total of 16 colors out of 256 if the upper
two bits are put to use for the intensity.

Nick, I would like to post all or some of your articles on this subject on 
CoCo3.com and see what happens.  We're getting over 15,000 hits a month and 
I'm sure we have some old Tandy officials or designers who stumble 
through.  It's worth a try to stir something up on this and get some more 
information that might lead to the answer.
