Interestingly enough IRIS OCR v10 supports DjVU as an import file format!

The advantage of PDF is that you can run the files through ABBYY and do your
own text conversion - and possibly share it with the rest of us. I'm not
aware of any OCR S/W that reads DejaVu files.
