Well I wasn't looking for a machine to actually use. It's
just curiousity from when the early machines first appeared.
I remember reading about the special video, sound and
I/O chips and thier capabilities. I guess I just have some
unsatisfied need to check them out once and for all and
find out if all the fuss over them was justified. The
one 68040 machine I would consider getting is a NeXT
cube. I still have the issue of BYTE that had the
debut article of the NeXT machine. I marvelled that
somebody could afford to spend $6500 on a computer,
me being a dirt poor college drop out at the time.
I have bidded up to $400 on a few ebay auctions
of the cube but there is always at least one fool willing
to go sub orbital when bidding on them so I end up empty
handed. Maybe NeXT time !!! :d
