Nope, it's the entire computer that's toast.  After it ran a while (about 20
minutes) and got warm (not hot), it just completely locked up.  So, I'm back
where I started from.  Maybe I can repair it with a 12lb sledge hammer.....

Check the ribbon cable. It may not be fully inserted or may be repairable.
If it turns out to be the actual keyboard, you can carefully open it and
again may be able to make repairs.
