Depends on which Coco you decide to go with, how much room you have
left over in a Spartan 2E 300K or even a similar Spartan 3.

Coco 1 you would have to incorporate the function of the MC6847 and
MC6883. The Coco 2 used two versions of the MC6847, one was the same
as the Coco 1 and the other is the MC6847T. The T version allowed some
other functions. IFRC it allowed true lower case text.

Now for the Coco3 that uses an entirely different chip. I am not
certain that a 300K Spartan 2E is big enough for a CoCo SoC. I have
shyed away from the Spartan 3 as it really is more dedicated to do DSP
type SoCs. I have started looking into doing the GIME chip in a CPLD,
but that may not be doable. I wanted to stay away from a FPGA and the
configuration rom. Darn things cost as much as   midsized FPGAs. There
are some very quirky things that go on inside the chip to make it
backward compatible with the Coco 1 and 2.
