The CoCo3 doesn't need that. It supports lowercase by hardware. Even the 
latest models of the CoCo2 (those with the TANDY logo), the so called 
"CoCo2B", supports true lowercase in 32x16 text screen resolution (a 
strange semigraphic mode with 2x3 graphical characters was kicked out of 
the system to make place for the new functions). It even supported 
"inverse screen" and "light border" in combination with "true lowercase" 
or "classic mode" and of course everything in "green" or "orange". I 
guess the CoCo3 emulates this behaviour in 32x16 mode.
