[Coco] Ferrite rings on CoCo floppy drive cables?

Last night I was working on a CoCo drive and trying to
change some connectors on a cable, and noticed that the
cable I was working on had a ferrite ring on it for EMI.
From what I can recall, none of the other drives I have
seen had a ferrite ring on the cable. Any thoughts from
the guru's on the list?
I ended up replacing the cable with another that did not
have a ferrite ring on it, and noticed that after turning
on the Monitor, then the CoCo, that when I turned on the
Drive, there was a momentary glitch on the screen. I
don't recall that this happened before, but my power up
sequence was a little different due to a MPI being in the
system (Power up MPI, Drive, Monitor, then CoCo)
It's been a long time since I worked with this vintage of
equipment, so maybe this is normal?
