The site suggested is not bad at all. From there is where I got the 
"walktrough" that started this topic.
But, the most interesting stuff is in the site for the PC port

It has a lot of info on the internals of the game, which explain, among 
other things, why the shields don't work at all with the creatures from 
the 1st level, and hardly with most of the others
