The Speech Sound cartridge got very little support. Some Radio Shack games
were made to talk, like The Interbank Incident, but the pak's speech cannot
be fine-tuned or manipulated much at all. It basically sounds like a slow
monotone robot. The music is multi-voice but the synchronization can get
off especially if you're POKEing the code in from a BASIC program. ML code
works better. Sometimes a voice can just get off-track slightly if the pak
is busy while you're POKEing more note commands. You have to wait until
the pak is ready before you can send more commands. There's also a noise
generator that I've used to create percussion and explosion effects in some
of my old experimental games.
