Any starting point is a good one for new programmers. What is crucial is
starting! Just assume that the lurkers would be glad of any chance to
learn anything and the regulars would be happy to offer help on any
reasonable subject.

In general, it is always easier to offer help or a solution to a
specific problem or task than to teach an entire subject.

What I see as a viable approach is for someone to say they are trying to
do X and have so far tried Y with Z results; full details supplied of
course. Then programmers should supply suggestions framed as
comparisons; Basic vs Assembly [vs C]. In this manner you could see,
with specific examples, the differences between high and low languages
and how they could be used in specific cases. Also you would see how
code can be interfaced with an existing OS, Disk Basic or OS-9.

Depending on the questions, this could extend through Disk Basic,
Basic09, C, Pascal, 6809/6309 code for the Basic OS, 6809/6309 code for
OS-9, and perhaps others. The ones mentioned were all sold/used on the
Coco by Tandy. Several other languages and OS were available through
other suppliers for Coco systems.
