Because the Color Computer generated an approximate sine wave, it was 
more forgiving than the other home computers of the era.

The big issue that seemd to cause distortion in recording is ALC, or 
automatic level control.

In playback, having the volume set too high would cause problems.

The Tandy recorders seemed to be differentiated from the standard 
cassette recorders of the time in that they did not have the ALC feature.
