So the end of the summer is officially here. How do I know? I caught a
cold. I'm good for one about every six months or so and apparently it was
time. Now having put Gas : Food : Longing to bed, and gone to Kansas and
competed in the Mountain Dulcimer championships (I didn't win, thanks for
asking) I actually had the necessary downtime I needed to lie in bed and
get some rest, watch TV, sleep, get better.

Nuts to that.

Despite fact that I have wasted entire days surfing the internet, I am
horrified at he concept of NOT doing something. I am forever rearranging
the things that I do so that I am (at least in my head) maximizing the time
spent during the day. I own three computers and you can be sure two of them
are on at any given moments. Sooo, lying in bed watching reruns of Trading
Spaces and NYPD blue (both of which I love BTW) lasted about 34 hours
before I decided I could probably redesign my web site from the confines of
my bed.

I know it's been three years since the last record came out, that I haven't
done much touring (or playing for that matter) while I worked on the
one-man Fringe show --and even that must seem like a departure from the
rock-n-roll. For most of you I've probably reached that
automatic-delete-without-reading phase in our relationship, but although
I’ve been dormant I have not been dead. Don't believe me? Go to the new,
improved http://butchross.com site and you'll find (count 'em) thirty five
MP3s you can download. The entire first album is up there, (all but one
actually, I sequenced the tracks wrong and now suffocate has 3 and a half
minutes of silence between it and the not-so-hidden “Ghost Track”) as well
as live tracks, dulcimer stuff, some stuff I wrote for television,
collaborations and covers.

I plan to spend the winter finishing a couple of recording projects I have
going on which may mean one or two new CDs in the spring and maybe even a
DVD, I'm still up in the air about some of that, but at least now you can
see where I've been these many years.

About the show.

I have said it so many times it must start to sound like a lie, I LOVE the
Postcrypt. It’s is truly one of my favorite places to play. And I'm the
bill with Pamela Means and Karaugh Brown, great performers and writers who
are also friends I don't see nearly enough (pretty easy on the eyes too).
Plus I haven't played a straight gig in a while, and I'm chomping at the
bit to do so. You should come, it'll be a great time.

Even if you can't make it, by all means check out the new site, download
some music. I promise I won’t sue you mom.

C-ya out there.
