If you live close to Chicago...
My original directions were wrong. Please note the new directions.
I plan to picnic on Monday 09-02-2024 at Deer Grove Forest Preserve.
I have a small portable hibachi grill.
I would like to try for sight #1, #2, or #3.
The directions to sight #3 is:

If you can find your way to the Jelly Cafe Palatine then you can walk to location #1, #2, or #3.
There is a place to dispose of hot coal at sight #1 or #3.
There is a porta potty at sight #1 or #3. Or you can just drive into town for proper facility's.
Write back if you want to join me or just show up.
If I can not find a spot on Monday then perhaps we can go to Twin Lakes Golf Course & Recreation Area for a bite to eat at the concession stand.
Eventually, I would like to end up at Twin Lakes Golf Course and Recreation Area before the day is done.
Bring a lawn chair, food, drinks, and such.
I could try to get to sight #1, #2, or #3 by 10:30 AM and see if I can claim some area.
1st choice sight #1 has a big shelter and about 12 tables.
2nd choice sight #2 has a small shelter with 2 tables and lots of natural shade from the trees.
3rd choice sight #3 has no shelter. It has about 8 tables and little shade from the trees.
I could light my grill at 11:30 AM and let it mostly burn out and cool down around 2:30 PM.
I then start cleaning up and disposing of the ashes.
Perhaps at 3:30 PM I could head over to Twin Lakes and look into fishing, foot paddle boats, golf driving range, walking, and playing ball.
Perhaps I can get a bite to eat at Twin Lakes concession stand or bring a pre-prepared (Kentucky Fried Chicken type) picnic around 5:30 PM.
Then head home before sunset, say about 7:00 PM.
