[Coco] 6809 Removal Process

Hi folks, wanted to share something that's worked well for me. In
upgrading from 6809 to 6309, most everything I read talks about cutting
out the old chip, removing pin by pin, and soldering in a socket. This
destroys the old chip.
Instead, I used a heat gun and warmed up the chip/solder, and was able
to remove the old chip without destroying it. Its really pretty easy -
honestly easier than cutting pin by pin. One just has to be a bit
careful to not melt the capacitor right next to the chip. Then use a
soldering iron and solder sucker to clear the pads enough to plug in the
new socket.
I've done this twice, and both times the old processor worked just fine
when plugging it into the socket afterwards.
I used a cheapo heat gun from harbor freight - its $8.97. Its low
setting is 750 degrees which is more than enough to get solder above its
melting point (usually around 465 degrees).
Thanks,
Don
