Gene,
I think you are confusing Allen's comment about disk formats with the OS-9 format.
Allen and Gene, the format required on the SD card is FAT16 or FAT32. These are
Windows formats and may or may not be available on a Linux system.
So an alternative, if Linux can't handle FAT32 and a Windows PC is not available,
would be to mail someone a 2GB SD card and have them load the card with a
desired selection of ROM images, directories with disk images, and file contents.
I've looked at my card with a hex editor and it contains:
