Phil,
As I have said in a couple emails to you before.  You go here:
https://colorcomputerarchive.com/repo/ROMs/MESS/

Download ALL of those zip files and stick those ZIP files and put them in
your ROMs folder for MAME/MESS.

DO NOT extract the zip files.  Leave the contents of the zip files alone.
Just download and place IN the ROMs folder.
