Wayne,

If you are editing the source on a Windows system I would recommend
Notepad++ as you can set the line formatting to be Windows, Linux, or macOS
line termination styles and thus will help with moving ASCII files between
the CoCo and the Windows computer.

As far as imgtool goes I haven't used it so not sure of its features.

I myself prefer using Toolshed Project binaries as most of the stuff I
tinker with I use GNUmake for building everything.
