[Coco] About GIF/JPG images on the CoCo

I had this curiosity some time ago. How would I get an image, convert it to something compatible with the CoCo and display it within my BASIC program?

The other thread presented software that can be used as an image viewer, but I am looking more into a way to display images within my own program.

Would the algorithm be different for each type of CoCo (I, II, 3)?

Can this be done in BASIC?
