I also found this Ebay listing:

Which is some kind of null-modem cable and software to connect between 
the CoCo and a DOS PC; the PC runs a piece of software called "SRV-FILE" 
- so in essence it's a PC-based version of the Arduino Uno system.

Also - on all of these listings, the item location is given as "Bel Air, 
Maryland" - which is the same as the address on that old magazine 
article. So the guy lives in the same city (but the address might be 
different of course).

I reached out to him to see what he has to say.
