[Coco] 74 series IC damaged

The most common reason I've experienced is accidentally wiring ground and VCC in reverse, instant death. 2nd most common is drawing too much current through a pin.

As far as being used correctly inside of the expected parameters, I don't have the expertise to answer.

Hi. Even though you can usually solder the 74 series straight in, it's better to use sockets in case you want to change chips to different sub types like LS, HC and F .

Hi.   Is it possible to damage 74 series IC's while soldering them to the board. (excess heat).    Is it better to solder in sockets then just pop in the ic's
