Yeah, I was going to mention that a company will charge sales tax when the sale is made within a state where the company has a facility.
Even eBay sellers need to charge a sales tax when the sale of their items is to someone that resides in the same state as the item location (may vary from state to state).
The trend is for there to be a sales tax that goes across states so that everyone pays sales taxes. Another poster mentioned that it is the buyer's responsibility to report any uncharged sales tax, but I suspect that this is not workingout for the states.

Nothing has changed in Texas.
As for other states, my guess is Newegg has added warehouses in Pennsylvania. They may have done it to reduce shipping times and costs.

Amazon started doing this a year or so ago, too. Originally, I think it was just for states where Amazon had a presence - like a warehouse or whatever.
I haven’t been paying much attention, but it seems to be the way things are going. Clearly, we all want more taxes so we vote in the representatives that will give this to us ;-)
When I ran Sub-Etha Software back in Texas, we only charged tax for orders from within Texas. Today, I’m not sure how small businesses are supposed to handle this. I have a business here in Iowa, but I haven’t been active with it the past few years when this started happening.
