Henry, No, Big Basic was designed for a 512k machine. You may be able to patch it, but I would think it would need a little more than that as it uses "Tasks" like OS9 does and switches between BASIC instances. The same goes for Window Master by Cercomp which was similar. There was NO commercial software designed for anything above 512k.
Kevin Darling wrote the 1 & 2 meg patches for OS9 and put them on Delphi, or else you got them when buying the upgrade from Disto (CRC). Still even then, there was no commercial software for OS9 that used the memory. Once patched, OS9 would use it as the memory limits were raised and OS9 would automatically go beyond 512k.
The memory upgrades really came out late in the game and by the time people started purchasing them, Tandy cancelled the Coco line. Had it happened earlier, we may have seen some software come about.

What about programs like Big Basic? Would that program be able to use more than 512k?Sent from my BlackBerry. From: dave at davebiz.comSent: December 27, 2017 9:03 PMTo: coco at maltedmedia.comReply-to: coco at maltedmedia.comSubject: Re: [Coco] 512K AND Beyond??? How FAR Beyond???Actually, if you expanded to 1 or 2 megs with a method that used the MMUregisters $FFA0-AF then you could access that memory from BASIC with apretty simple patch since the LPEEK, LPOKE, and other commands werealready designed to access up to 512K. Of course the BASIC programitself is still limited to the area below 32K without majormodifications. Other relatively simple patches could open up otherpossibilities.DaveOn 12/26/2017 11:23 PM, Joe Schutts via Coco wrote:> Another related question.
