The Spectrum Voice Pak did indeed come with Software on cassette and a manual. There was also Termtalk that was a talking terminal program. There were several small companies that made talking games for it as well.

The Spectrum Voice Pak was actually manufactured by Zebra Systems. I used to build and test them when I worked there.

If I ever come across my masters of the software, I'll post it.
