I've had to do a lot of hand rework with 0201 parts in my previous day job. I avoid designing any components smaller than 0402 into anything I expect have to solder myself if I can get away with it. But on the bright side, I remember when I was afraid of hand-soldering 0402 components; that all went away once I got used to 0201, after which those great big 0402s began to look like bricks under the microscope!
Anyway, on the subject of stepping on toes, I have projects in mind which could be thought to compete with all of y'all's things. But I plan to buy your projects, too! I think there's plenty of room for all of us to play around scratching our retro-engineering itches. The more, the merrier!
