Thanks Bill.
I settled for using a 3.3.0 boot disk with COgfx for use simply to copy between my B&B setup and Drivewire.I will continue 3.2.1 otherwise as that is what works. Eventually I'll have some more time to play around with getting a working 3.3.0 setup. Thanks!Chas

The mouse is returning values, but with no pointer, it seems to not be working. You can actually "blind click" the menus (if you can get the invisible cursor in the right place) and click through it, but it's not easy LOL.

> Hi Bill. My joy/mouse is working fine on either port. I think it has something to do with cowin vs cogrf. If I make a boot disk with COwin I will get boot failed 100% of the time.My system is a 512K coco3, with a B&B interface to a ST225 hdd. Drivewire cable to a PC running DW4, and a couple of FD-502 360K floppies. The only things I changed in standard.bl is adding bbfhdisk.dr, h0.dd, and ddh0.dd for the B&B. I also enabled the drivewire and only X0 (so i can copy things to my ST225). I was forced to change from cowin to cogfx because of the boot fail.I suspect this is why ed and the shanghai games do not have a working cursor. Any ideas why I get boot failed? I extracted the standard.bl I edited, but the word wrap is all messed up. I can attach it somewhere, but really the only changes made are what is described above.Chas> Date: Sun, 24 Apr 2016 08:55:18 -0400> To: coco at maltedmedia.comcoco@maltedmedia.com> Subject: Re: [Coco] Ed 3.1 Nitros9 3.3.0> From: coco at maltedmedia.comcoco@maltedmedia.com> CC: ooogalapasooo at aol.comooogalapasooo@aol.com> > Charlie,> I use Ed 3.1 regularly as my C source editor for all my programming (every day). It's my "editor of choice". The mouse cursor works fine on a real Coco 3, Vcc, and Mess, all in Nitros9 3.3.0. I also have my own software I'm developing that is GUI based which uses the mouse exclusively and I have no problem with mouse/joystick use, and neither has anyone that has tested my software. In fact, all software I use under nitros9 3.3.0 that is mouse oriented runs fine.> Ed should work "straight out the box" and you should not have to turn anything on. Ed does that itself. I have used almost every version of Ed that Mike Sweet released. Multivue should get the same results as I've run it straight from the repo disks with no problem.> > Did you try switching joyports? You may be using the wrong port. Some programs use left, others use right. Does your mouse/joystick still work with other software, like RSDOS games etc? It may be your mouse/joystick cable, or a bad port on the Coco.> > I can verify there is absolutely nothing wrong with Ed or Nitros9 3.3.0 as I use both on a day-to-day basis (in VCC and real Coco) and the mouse works fine.> > One thing I DO know is that the disks released in the repo have "CoGrf" installed instead of "CoWin" which is a BIG mistake. CoGrf does not support fonts, patterns, pointers, and menus and many things will not run properly with CoGrf (Ed being one, Multivue being another), but the mouse WILL work.> I don't know who relplaced CoWin with CoGrf, but it needs to be changed back as that was not a good move for the average user. They would have to build a new boot just to get most graphic software to run.> > > > > > > Bill Pierce> "Charlie stole the handle, and the train it won't stop going, no way to slow down!" - Ian Anderson - Jethro Tull> > > > My Music from the Tandy/Radio Shack Color Computer 2 & 3> https://sites.google.com/site/dabarnstudio/> Co-Contributor, Co-Editor for CocoPedia> http://www.cocopedia.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page> Global Moderator for TRS-80/Tandy Color Computer Forums> http://www.tandycoco.com/forum/> > E-Mail: ooogalapasooo at aol.comooogalapasooo@aol.com> > > > > > > -----Original Message-----> From: Charlie Pelosi <chaspelosi at outlook.comchaspelosi@outlook.com>> To: coco list <coco at maltedmedia.comcoco@maltedmedia.com>> Sent: Sun, Apr 24, 2016 12:35 am> Subject: Re: [Coco] Ed 3.1 Nitros9 3.3.0> > Thanks. So since my post, I have also found that two Shanghai games from "Earther" software also do not have cursor movement, same as Ed.Joystick works fine in the Sierra games and the Activision Shanghai...Perhaps I haven't created the boot disk properly... The Nitros9 I was using , where all of this worked, was older.. 3.2.1 and I'm not very familiar with the system to begin with.I've never used Multivue... I have always just started Ed from the command line.Chas> From: SFischer1 at Mindspring.comSFischer1SFischer1@Mindspring.comSFischer1 at Mindspring.com> To: coco at maltedmedia.comcocococo@maltedmedia.comcoco at maltedmedia.com> Date: Sat, 23 Apr 2016 19:32:05 -0700> Subject: Re: [Coco] Ed 3.1 Nitros9 3.3.0> > https://sourceforge.net/p/nitros9/blog/2014/04/nitros-9-v330-released/> > From the V3.3.0 ChangeLog (covering the last year's changes):> ...> •New MinTED - Minimalist Text Editor (Luis Antoniosi)> > I have not looked for where to get MinTED, the source is in NitrOS-9.> > ----------------------------------------------------> > For a non-simple Text Editor, my Colorful Sled is available.> > http://www.tandycoco.com/coco-forum/stephen-fischer-projects/198> > Should it be also broken, please tell me.> > SHF> > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Charlie Pelosi" <chaspelosi at outlook.comchaspelosichaspelosi@outlook.comchaspelosi at outlook.com>> To: "coco list" <coco at maltedmedia.comcocococo@maltedmedia.comcoco at maltedmedia.com>> Sent: Saturday, April 23, 2016 6:31 PM> Subject: [Coco] Ed 3.1 Nitros9 3.3.0> > > > Hello!I started playing around with Nitros9 again. I noticed that in the newest version 3.3.0 when I use the text editor Ed 3.1 that the mouse pointer is broken. It will not move. It worked in the older versions I've tried. Any idea how to get it working again? Is there perhaps another simple easy to use text editor like Ed as an alternative?Ed can be found here: ftp://www.rtsi.com/OS9/OS9_6X09/APPS/Thanks!Chas. > > > > -- > > Coco mailing list> > Coco at maltedmedia.comCocoCoco@maltedmedia.comCoco at maltedmedia.com> > https://pairlist5.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/coco> >> > -- > Coco mailing list> Coco at maltedmedia.comCocoCoco@maltedmedia.comCoco at maltedmedia.com> https://pairlist5.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/coco -- Coco mailing listCoco at maltedmedia.comCocolistCoco@maltedmedia.comCoco at maltedmedia.comhttps://pairlist5.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/coco> > -- > Coco mailing list> Coco at maltedmedia.comCoco@maltedmedia.com> https://pairlist5.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/coco -- Coco mailing listCoco at maltedmedia.comCoco@maltedmedia.comhttps://pairlist5.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/coco
