There used to be a huge problem with crappy capacitors in power supplies
(the so-called "Capacitor Plague" of 1999-2007). I remember having to
replace PSUs in many computers at home and for friends and business
partners; in some cases, the computer was fried. I've kept a few
pictures of leaky or blown-up capacitors in my folders. The current
power supplies (post-2007) seem to be much more reliable though.
