Hi Ed,

Very true.
> I definitely wouldn’t ditch the serial port on the base board, pretty essential on this type of SBC (or at least really helpful).
Agreed. I definitely want a serial port at least on the Kipper SBC of any type.
> Though with a programmer and cross assembler on a pc, and a ROM socket on the SBC you could get by.
That is how I envisioned doing development on this type of platform just like the giants of yesteryear used to do.
> I haven’t been following this, but what how is the memory set up/divided between ROM & RAM?
32KB of static ram at $0000-$7FFFF - so far, 16KB of rom at $C000-$FFFF.
> What kind of startup code is available for the ROM on this board so far?
Grant Searle's modified Microsoft Extended Basic - a 9KB image from the Coco 2 in rom.

Once you have a serial connection and some storage, all you’d need is a simple OS of some kind that supports serial transfer and basic storage in ROM and you’d be ready to start development (on an external PC).
I definitely wouldn’t ditch the serial port on the base board, pretty essential on this type of SBC (or at least really helpful). Though with a programmer and cross assembler on a pc, and a ROM socket on the SBC you could get by.
I haven’t been following this, but what how is the memory set up/divided between ROM & RAM?
What kind of startup code is available for the ROM on this board so far?
