no I didn't mount an image I will try that when I get back home shortly
how do I remount a image I make

Did you mount a disk image in Drive 1 to serve as the destination for the
Backup?
You need to do something like this:
DRIVE 0, OFF
DRIVE 1, "TEST.DSK", NEW
BACKUP 0 TO 1
