Hi Bill,
I'm still reading through as much as I can in an evening, so I don't
know how to tell which driver my /t2 is using. Based on what Gene said,
it's probably different between the various builds of NitrOS9. I was
using the version (for the SDC) listed in my original email below. How
do I find which driver it's using? I'm still getting up to speed on the
whole device descriptors concept.
I read about the adding up of various parameter bits to set the baud
rate, parity, stop bits, etc. The OS9 Level 2 documentation was very
thorough in that regard. Since I'm definately a "newbie" with NitrOS9,
I'm not too proud to ask for help in getting my remote terminal going.
I'm very impressed with what I've seen and read so far with NitrOS9. It
should be folks (like myself) that use and enjoy our Coco's thanking you
all for developing a great OS and other developers like Gene who take
time to make improvements to your OS.
I appreciate the help and thank you!
-Ron

Your syntax for starting the shell is correct, so it is related to driver or baud settings. Depending on how many terminals you want, the best speed I have found is about 9600 bd per. Curtis Boyle and I have had 5 terminals going with 3 printers from NitrOS9.

Slot 4 has an SDC controller and I've mounted the NitrOS9 SDC version (nos96809l2v030300coco3_cocosdc.dsk <http://www.nitros9.org/latest/nos96809l2v030300coco3_cocosdc.dsk>). Slot 1 has a Deluxe RS232 Pak. I've connected this pak to my PC with a NULL modem cable. RS232 pak seems to work fine with my PC (tested it at 9600 baud) using the RS built-in term program from DECB.

I'm unfamiliar with how to verify the proper driver is being loaded for /t2 and unable to get the correct syntax for the xmode command to verify what the default term settings are. I'm also thinking there may be a way to communicate faster than 9600 baud using the Deluxe RS232 Pak (from within NitrOS9) as well.
