There seems to be hundreds of demonstration videos of people doing it successfully with magnets on YouTube :) Yep, like many successful things, it may work, but it's still wrong. Since I do not have a de-gaussing coil, a magnetic source is my only option. I don't expect I could even find a TV repair shop in town these days and if I did, I bet their bench fee to flip a button and wave something around my screen would be more than the monitor is worth.
Sad, old hardware. If I spend any money, it's gonna be on an LCD TV so I can run Roy's VGA adapter and composite. Hopefully.
