A Y cable just allows multiple "Paks" to connect to the CoCo's bus. Care must be taken to make sure they don't try to camp out on the same addresses. In other words, two game Paks would not would work. You could run a disk controller and an rs232 pak if you remove the ROM from the rs232 pak, etc.

Subject: [Coco] Y adapter

This has been probably answered before but I am still fairly new to the
CoCo World. The Y adapter is something I am curious about how it works
compared to a multipak where you have a slider switch. i have an MPI on my
one CoCo 3 but I have a Y adapter I plan on using with my other CoCo 3 or
my CoCo 2. Before I started I figured I would ask about its compatibility
and issues that might be related to that. I looked on the CoCopedia and saw
 no info there.
Thanks
Mike
