Bill,
That is your problem. Go to the hardware schematics.
I agree with William's conclusion.
Don't get caught up in the name of the interface. The end result will be just fine.

Mark,
The issue of the Becker port addresses conflicting with the disk controller is unclear to me.
Looking at Disk Basic Unraveled, $FF41 is NOT labeled (therefore uncallable except by direct addressing), but is stated to be an RMB 7 commented as "DKSREG Images"
Since it's not "called" or "referenced" by any portion of the DECB rom (or HDBDOS), I would think it's a safe address.
The Vcc emulator uses the becker port WITH the disk rom (or HDBDOS) in memory and normal "emulated" floppy disk action is not hampered. I have no idea if this is just a "quirk" of the Vcc disk controller hardware emulation and what effect it would have on writing to these addresses on a real controller, but from what I see, I don't think there would be a problem.
I was under the assumption that this is why $F41 & $FF42 were chosen to start with.. because they were unused.
Of course I'm no hardware guru and will probably get corrected....
Anyway.... Will the becker port work OK with the new paks WITHOUT a disk connected?
I think you answered that one, but really just trying to clarify that the SuperSD will still work with Becker port enabled. Drives are slowly fading away now... if the disks don't beat them to the draw, so this is no big issue with me. I only use a disk controller (no drives attached) to hold my HDBDOS rom.
I'd rather have the capabilities of the SuprSD with Becker DW4 speeds than ANY floppy drive I can think of.
Couple that with DW4's midisyth, telnet, remote terminal, internet connection and other capabilities, then things really start cooking. And software ideas start flowing.....
