With all the talk of this monitor (1084) being so great, I started browsing evil-bay for one and in one of the product pages was this info:

The information below is the specs I could find on the 1084

Commodore 1084
The Commodore 1084, which was originally developed for the Amiga, is a very good color monitor for the Commodore 64.
With its many ports it can be used for connecting to many home and personal computers and can also be connected to video recorders, picture record players and TV tuners.
The Commodore 1084 has a good, sharp picture with luscious colors.
All the important settings can be changed over regulators at the front or the back. While the 1084 only plays mono, the model Commodore 1084S can also play stereo.
Due to its good price performance ratio the 1084 was (and still is) very popular.
With the help of a resting bracket you can flap back the monitor and with this change the viewing angle.
On the left side there is stereo socket (3,5 mm) for the headphone connection.
Operators at the Commodore 1084 front • On/Off: press POWER button (I) (LED lights, if on).
• Picture and sound settings (open the lid):
H. CENTERING - move picture from left to right horizontally
BRIGHTNESS - brightness
CONTRAST - contrast
COLOR - colour saturation (not, when connected to RGB)
SHARPNESS - sharpness (not, when connected to RGB)
VOLUME - volume
• CVBS/RGB switch: with the CVBS/RGB switch the FBAS- (or LCA-) signal (of the video recorder, computer or tuner) or the RGB signal (of the computer) is chosen.
• VCR key: when connecting a video recorder or a picture record player the key "VCR" needs to be pressed to adjust the picture. When connection a tuner, this button should not be pressed.
V.HEIGHT - picture height
V.CENTERING - vertical alignment
V.WIDTH - picture width

1084 Sub-Models
The 1084 and its variants (1084S, 1084ST, 1084S-P, 1084-P, 1084S-P2, 1084-D, 1084S-D) are all 15.75 kHz monitors. They do not handle AGA "double" screen modes, nor will they display the interlaced output from the A2320 Amber board or the motherboard interlarded output on an A3000. However, they will show all normal 15.75 kHz displays, and many (most? all?) of the 1084 versions have a separate input for composite video.
The 1084 is a usually a variation of the Philips CM8833 monitor; the 1084S-D was made by Daewoo (as was the 1084D, probably). The display tubes used in these monitors were made by Orion, Toshiba, Hitachi, and Samsung.
At one time or another, every possible permutation of connectors and video capabilities on the 1084 seems to have been reached, so don't be surprised if your 1084 has some bizarre combination of connectors and specifications.
