The problem you will find is that the A1200 and the A4000 are pretty hard to find these days in North America without paying big money. You can order PAL units in from the UK, but you still will be paying a premium for shipping. [ I order in the parts piece by piece and assemble them here].

But an A2000 system is still pretty easy to get, and the accelerator cards are still economical, but it's a tank, ugly and heavy.
Still, an stock A500 is, by itself, a pretty useless machine, and the "classic" upgrade parts cost their weight in gold.Last year, I had a friend who wanted the A500, and a hard drive unit, and the hard drive cost over $300 and I had to get it from Germany. But with the latest upgrades, it becomes a more feasible investment. There is a guy here in Canada (Kipper2) that sells 8meg plus Compact flash kits for under $80, this kit alone makes your A500 now usable. you can now upgrade to OS 3.1 and such. Also, there is the new ACA500- a card that plugs into the side port and along other things allows you to plug in most A1200 Accelerators -for under $100.
You also will want to look into the Indivision Flicker fixer (there is one for all Amiga's), a very simple "plug and Play" card that allows you to hook up to any VGA or TV (HDMI-in the 1200's)

on my You-tube channel you will see I have a video of a "Super A500" which I recently had in stock (sold now) with kipper2's board, an indivision ECS card and an HxC floppy emulator.(glenvdb is the channel name)

Most of my Amiga machines are sold now (just have an A2000 I am currently restoring), but I do have a wide selection of parts and monitors left. (just closed my online-store)
