That stuff is left over from some years ago when we were running some
OS9 systems online for public demos. Believe it or not, this attracted
the attention of some folks who dedicated their time to crashing the
systems.  The 'protect' option told DW4 to do it's own authentication
prior to opening the coco connection and to disconnect sessions after
idle, stuff like that.   It doesn't do anything in the current version
IIRC.

You can replace login with tsmon or shell or any OS9 executable you'd
like.  I don't recall the logic behind the current default, if there
is any (beyond that it works).
