Wow, I remember that thing — gotta dig mine out. There was a larger, spiral bound version they sold which had more stuff (disk, perhaps?). Oddly, that one shows the PEEK command as being part of Extended BASIC. I also see it’s missing the SET() command.
The picture of the CoCo on that brochure shows a house with a garage. This makes me think back — there was an EXTENDED COLOR BASIC demo program Radio Shack ran (maybe from cassette?) in the stores. I think that picture came from that. Does anyone recall? Does anyone have it? It may have been the one that, at one point, drew out some sheet musing then used the PLAY command to play some beep beep music. Wow, that was ages ago.
Seeing that demo was what made me get a CoCo. I had been wandering in to my local Radio Shack on Saturdays while my grandmother shopped nearby and playing with the Color Computer. I remember the salesman, Don, contacting me to tell me about the new Extended BASIC they got in and when I first saw it, and how easy it was to draw a line or a circle, I was hooked. My VIC-20 couldn’t do anything like that unless you added the Super Expanded cartridge, and then no one else would be able to run it unless they had that cartridge too making is useless for writing programs for sale.
Fun times.
