Like anywhere else, it's hit and miss. Try asking someone at Best Buy about a TV or computer. You may find someone "in" to it that knows stuff, or be talking to a rock. Same complaints about RS with tech in the 80s when I worked there.

I have found some incredibly good RS employees, and many whom I thought would be better fit at Wal Mart or Best Buy.

I don't know what they can do about it. The tech/nerds aren't usually good with people skills.
