Hi DTSS Simulator Users!
Ok, there seems to be a lot of confusion as to how to correctly use the DTSS
simulator and I apologize for being part of the cause as I was going off of
my memory of my earlier experience with the simulator when I first
discovered it shortly after writing a review of Dr. Thomas Kurtz book "Back
to BASICs 40 years later" for the Glenside Color Computer Club's Newsletter.
I went back and scanned the files "A BASIC Outline.pdf" and "Commands.pdf"
that come with the DTSS Simulator and the instructions look pretty
understandable to me for entering a rudimentary basic program. However I
have used many languages over the years so I probably have an intuitive
capability to pick up on aspects of programming that others with less
experience may not have. Points that I probably take for granted now. So
if I have skipped an important point when I initially described how use the
DTSS Simulator, please forgive me.
I'm assuming that everyone has already read both of these two documents
BEFORE using the DTSS simulator for the FIRST time. If however you have not
then by all means please read both of these documents first before trying to
use the simulator as the documents will answer many of the questions we all
have had including me. Dr. Thomas Kurtz himself wrote both of these
documents describing how to use the DTSS simulator in their entirety.
Hopefully he has covered everything we need to know to initially start using
the simulator, however if after reading all the documentation that comes
with the simulator you still do not understand something, then please let me
know and I will answer your questions as best I can. I of course will
reread the documents as well to refresh my memory. I will be creating a
narrative describing writing your first program in the simulator to give you
all an example. Be looking for it as I'm beginning that email in a few
minutes. Above all, Have Fun!!! Take care my friends.
