[Coco] Can a hardware based FPGA CoCo be made into a unit that can be attached as an USB device to your existing laptop etc.?

After the excitement for the Fharfall project I have to ponder if
perhaps it's time for someone to make an FPGA or similar CoCo hardware
project that like the Chromecast fits nicey as a USB device has all the
CoCo has to offer but uses the video and sound hardware of whatever
laptop etc it happes to be attached too.
If someone can make a relic CoCo cartridge today why not something like
this? How feasible would it be?
The advantages of an actual hardware base CoCo that uses the video and
sound of a host computing device are obvious when compared to emulators
that always have limitations on what they can run specially actual
physical CoCo cartridges which one could never run on an emulator could
potentially run through the use of a USB adapter.
If this succeeds it may not stop with the CoCo anything from Atari to
N-64 maybe run this way.
