Sorry to disappoint, Greg.  But when all you have is a hammer, everything 
begins to resemble a nail...

Actually I have other stuff that likely would have worked even better but I 
didn't want to sit there overnight holding it long enough for goop to set. 
:)  The fact that it lasted more than a day or 3 was a huge plus, and a 
purely accidental discovery.
