In my opinion, Linux is inherently better suited for software development 
- of anything - than Windows.  Unless you drink the kool-aid and stay 
completely in Visual Studio (or whatever Microsoft currently calls it), 
building on Windows is just an uphill battle.

But, I'm hardly unbiased so YMMV. :-).
