Genlocking a V9958 is more complicated than it might initially seem and requires a PLL driven timing circuit that allows slight alterations in the VDP clock to sync the V9958's output to the external video. 
I would have consider this display generator for a Sprite board for the Coco, except for this complication.

It looks like a great idea.
