That's correct. If you use the stock Disk Basic ROM's, 1.0 or 1.1, then you will 
not have access to the .vhd drive while Basic is running. You can access the 
.vhd if you boot NitrOS-9 with the required drivers in the OS9Boot module and a 
.vhd Boot module in the kernel.

Strictly speaking, you don't "boot into a disk" or boot a ROM. Are you more 
interested in Disk Basic or NitrOS-9? You may be asking about how to boot 
NitrOS-9 from a .vhd without using a floppy.
