I fear your memory is having bit errors. IBM already had business
(and lab) machines and the PC was, in fact, geared towards home use.
The original IBM PC had a cassette port but it was not popular as
very few original PC's left the factory without a Floppy drive.
The "PC Jr" or "Peanut" was an attempt to push a really cheap machine
into the market without hurting real PC sales. The machine was a
dismal failure and did not last long in the market. It had a wireless
keyboard (IR) but usually was connected by the provided cable as I
never saw one that actually worked reliably. :-)
People here do know that the original IBM PC was supposed to be
Motorola based and not Intel based, right....
