There is a limit to the testing you can do with an RS-232 pak without a modem. 
After all, nothing you send to the pak will go anywhere.

About the only thing you can test is if the ROM in the pak will function. Most 
users of the RS-232 pak don't want to use the ROM and prefer software terminal 
programs. I've removed the ROM from my RS-232 pak and stuck a SmartWatch in it's 
place.

OK, so normally with a Coco1 or 2, you would start a pak ROM with EXEC &HC000. 
That is likely not to work with a Coco3 and the Coco3 owner's books tell you to 
use EXEC &HE010 to start all paks.
